OVERVIEW
The delightful Tibetan Prayer Chime is tuned to the musical theme commissioned to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Carnegie Hall. At Carnegie Hall, composer Toru Takemitsu's work - From Me Flows What You Call Time - featured two large custom sets of Woodstock chimes suspended above the audience and activated by colored ribbons that extend to the performers on stage. These ribbons represent the colors of Tibetan prayer flags. Part of Woodstock's Charitable Chimes series, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this chime go to support Tibet House New York, an organization dedicated to preserving Tibetan culture. The five chimes represent the five colors of the Tibetan prayer flags, or "wind horse." The wooden windcatcher has a sketch of a wind horse for added detail. Once the wind blows, the wooden striker contacts each chime for a gentle and mesmerizing sound. |
